CHRIST RENEWS HIS PARISH RETREAT WEEKEND |
Christ renews his parish
or CRHP (pronounced CHIRP) is designed to bring members of a Parish
together in Christ. This two-day retreat began in 1969 at Holy
Family Parish
in Cleveland Ohio and has spread to hundreds of parishes throughout
the U.S.
|
WHAT HAPPENS ON A CRHP WEEKEND? |
The weekend includes ways in which
parishioners have found meaning, hope, peace and love in their
lives. Team members
give their reflections on such subjects as: The Father’s Loving
Care, Scripture, Eucharist, Christian Community, and Christian Awareness.
There is time to pray, talk, listen, laugh and get away from your
everyday life. Opportunities for receiving the Sacrament of Reconciliation
and for celebrating the Eucharist are provided. |
| |
|
WHAT CRHP IS NOT! |
It’s often helpful to know what something is not. It is not
a silent retreat…a parish organization…a “public
confession”…an “emotional cult”…a parish “clique”. |
| |
|
WHO LEADS THE RETREAT? |
The team consists of persons who have previously participated in
a CRHP. The presenters are not professional retreat masters. They
are women and men just like you, involved with their families and
friends, their jobs, their parishes. Our first CRHP weekend at Little
Flower will be supported by the CRHP Retreat Committee from the St.
Louis Archdiocese. |
| |
|
HOW LONG IS THE WEEKEND? |
It begins at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday and ends by 4:00 p.m. on Sunday. |
| |
|
WHO MAY PARTICIPATE? |
Every member of Little Flower Parish, 18 or
older, is both invited and encouraged to attend. Men and women
participate on different
weekends. Although the weekend is based on the Catholic faith, you
do not have to be Catholic to attend. You don’t have to be
a regular churchgoer. All you really need is a desire to “come
and see”. |
| |
|
HOW DO I SIGN UP? |
You will be invited through bulletin and pulpit announcements and
perhaps by a personal invitation from another parishioner. |
| |
|
WHERE WILL I SLEEP? |
Have you ever spent a night in Little Flower
School??? Here’s
your chance! Air mattresses are provided or you may bring your sleeping
bag. If any parishioner needs to sleep at home for health reasons,
that is certainly acceptable. |
| |
|
WHAT ABOUT MEALS? |
Meals are provided and there will be regular breaks for coffee,
cold drinks and snacks. Special dietary needs can be accommodated. |
| |
|
WHAT’S
THE COST? |
NONE! Some participants do choose to make private and/or anonymous
donations. |
| |
|
WILL
I HAVE TO “SHARE FAITH” OR
TALK IN FRONT OF OTHERS? |
No one is required to get up and speak. The talks are given by
team members, not by participants. You may share in conversation
(as much or as little as you choose) with a small number of other
participants. |

CRHP
IS… |
Many parishes in our area have been hosting
CRHP weekends for many years. The weekend is an opportunity to
deepen your relationship
with Christ and to grow more in love with your brothers and sisters
at Little Flower. Here’s a sampling of what parishioners who
have participated in the weekend say:
“CRHP renewed my spirit and rekindled the faith that was
long lost in me.”
“A chance to rediscover my relationship with Christ”
“I witness the struggles in others’ lives and their
journey to Christ.”
“It’s the greatest gift I have ever given myself.”
