Marriage is the most prevalent vocation in our society
today, and you and your intended have just become engaged. Congratulations!
There is now so much to do, scheduling a hall, the band, the caterers
- you have so many things to do, but wait just a second, please read
the rest.
Please, before you set the date, reserve the banquet hall and all of
those other things that you still do not know about, contact one of the
priests or deacons to secure the date that you want for your marriage.
Why can't we have the date that
we have decided on? Well, before the date can be set at the Church,
you will need to use the FOCCUS instrument
designed to help you to think about what you will eventually face in
your married life such as finances, number of children you want, and
many other important issues.
The clergy at Little Flower ask that you contact one of us so that we
can explain everything to both of you and help you to begin the process
of marriage preparation.
Weddings witnessed by a priest or deacon can only
be performed in a Catholic Church. However, a wedding that is valid
in the eyes of the
Catholic Church can be performed in another denomination’s church
as long as permission to do so has been granted by the Archdiocese. A
Nuptial Mass is not a requirement for a valid Catholic marriage.
Little Flower welcomes
weddings in our parish church by non-parishioners as long as the
bride or groom is Catholic. More information can be
found in the Little Flower Marriage Guidelines.
One of the requirements for being married in the Archdiocese
of St. Louis is that you take a marriage preparation
program. There are
various programs
that are available to you to meet this requirement. You can discuss
this with either a priest or a deacon.
It will be necessary for the couple
to have a valid Missouri Wedding License in order to be married at
Little Flower, or anywhere in the State of Missouri. To help answer
the questions you have simply go to the St.
Louis County Wedding web site to find
out what you need to do, and when.

Unfortunately, in today's society,
marriages sometimes do not work out. If you are divorced and would
like to investigate the possibility of
an annulment, please contact Deacon
Bill Weiss.
An annulment is a declaration that a valid / sacramental state was
not entered due to various reasons and that the marriage never existed
as
a sacrament.
