Little Flower Parish is blessed to have many individuals involved in parish life. Feel free to click on any of the links below to see more information regarding any of our parish’s commissions, ministries, or organizations.
The following parish organizations present a wide variety of social, spiritual and service activities available to all ages.


CYC (Catholic Youth Council) (57)

The purpose of the CYC is to bring together the youth of the parish during their high school years.

Activities:

Pasta Supper
Senior Citizens Breakfast
Breakfast with Santa
Various social trips
Sports events and activities
Service (such as table setup for Super Seniors meetings)
Working the CYC Food Booth at the Parish Picnic


Membership: Youth 13 years and older encouraged to join.

Girl Scouts (58)

The purpose of Girl Scouts is to inspire girls with the highest ideals of character, conduct, patriotism, and service, to offer girls the experience of working in a group, making decisions as a group, and sharing and learning together.

Neighborhood/district/council events
Ceremonies
Crafts
Singing
Badge work
Outdoor adventures
Community service projects

Sport skills

Membership: Brownies: 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade girls Juniors and Cadet's

Volunteer Opportunities: Leader, Co-leader, cookie manager, etc.

Must be at least 18 years old.

Boy Scouts (58)

The purpose of Boy Scouts is to influence the development of character and encourage spiritual growth. The Scout learns to respect God, his country, his home and fellow man.

 

Activities:

Meetings (held mostly on weekends for about 2 hours)
Pinewood Derby,
Scouting for Food,
community service,
nature activities,
camping,
sportsmanship,
health,
crafts,
Blue & Gold Banquet.

Membership: 1St Grade - Tiger Cubs
2nd & 3rd Grade - Cub Scouts
4th Grade - Webelo Scouts
5th Grade and up - Boy Scouts

Volunteer Opportunities: For those at least 18 years old, Den Leaders, committee persons, assistant leaders, Cub Master.

Ladies Club (60)

The purpose of the Ladies Club is to aid the work of the parish and school and provide a social environment for the women of the parish.

First Monday of each month at 8:00 PM (Rosary at 7:00 PM in church).

Membership: Women of the parish (18 years of age and older) and mothers of children enrolled in the school.

Committees: School Committee, Dancing School, Special Events, and Entertainment Committee

Legion of Mary (61)

The purpose of the Legion of Mary is to increase the personal holiness of its members through the imitation of the virtues of Mary, to foster a deeper devotion to Mary among all people and to undertake apostolic works.

Meetings: Weekly on Monday mornings at 9:30 AM in the Rectory Meeting Room.

Membership:

Active membership - Persons 18 years or older who attend weekly meetings and perform two hours of apostolic work per week.

Auxiliary membership - Persons 18 years or older willing to say a rosary and specific prayers each day.

Activities:

First Friday Eucharistic Adoration
Recitation of the rosary on Saturdays at 4:40 PM
Weekly personal visits throughout the parish area for census taking surveys
Evangelization shut-ins
Auxiliary members contacts

Knights of Columbus (71)

The purpose of the Knights of Columbus is to help Catholic men grow in their faith through mutual encouragement; to promote closer ties of fraternity among them; and to embody knightly ideals of spirituality and service to Church, community and fellow humans.


Meetings:
Fourth Tuesday monthly, 8:00 PM in school hall following Rosary at 7:30 PM.

Membership: Any Catholic man 18 years of age or older.

Activities:

Spiritual development
Family life
Youth work
Community activities and pro-life activities
First Friday Eucharistic Adoration
Tootsie Roll Drive

Volunteer Opportunities:

Serving breakfast at Ronald McDonald House.

Men’s Club (62)

The purpose of the Men’s Club is to promote and sponsor athletic, social, educational and spiritual activities.

Meetings: Third Wednesday monthly at 7:30 PM in the school hall.

Membership: Men of the parish 18 years or older and fathers of children enrolled in the school.

Committees: Athletic director and coaches; Field Maintenance Director and workers.

Activities:

Golf Tournament,
Basket of Cheer,
Father/Child Float Trip,
Various fund-raisers and social events.

Moms & Tots (88)

The purpose of Moms & Tots is to provide an opportunity for pre-school children of the parish to play together and to provide support and fellowship for their parents.

Meetings: Second and fourth Saturday of the month for the weekend group.

Membership: Preschoolers and their parents.

Pro-Life (63)

The purpose of the Pro-Life group is to promote respect for life at all ages by providing spiritual, educational, legislative and pastoral opportunities to nourish a culture of life.

Membership: Everyone is invited.

Activities:

Meetings as needed
Sponsors bread sales to benefit Life Line Coalition

Organizes “showers” for Birthright, Our Lady’s Inn, and Villa Maria
Promotes the ad campaign
Provides information on current issues
Organizes “Respect Life” opportunities for the school

Society of St. Vincent de Paul (64)

The purpose of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul is to serve the spiritual and material needs of people within our parish boundaries. Meetings: First and third Mondays of the month at 7:15 PM in the Rectory Meeting Room.

Membership: Any adult Catholic who is a parishioner.

Activities:

Two-person teams make home visits to people requesting assistance. Help given may include, but is not limited to, payment of utility bills and offers of food vouchers. Strict confidentiality is maintained. We stock and manage a storage room in the church basement which enables us to bring “gift bags” to every family we visit. At Christmas time, we deliver gifts and .food baskets to many of the families we have met through our ministry. Prayer and the spirit of St. Vincent are ever-present components of our work.

Spirit of Little Flower (65)

The purpose of the Spirit of Little Flower newsletter is to provide parishioners with valuable, in-depth information about the people of our parish and about our area.

Meetings: Bimonthly throughout the year.

 

Volunteer Opportunities:

Writing articles;
Proof reading and editing;
Desktop publishing;
Folding and labeling copies;
Creative ideas!

Super Seniors (66)

The Super Seniors group is for parishioners 55 years and older, to socialize with friends and make new ones while participating in spiritual, recreational and informational activities.

Meetings: Second Sunday of month at 1:00 PM in the school hall.

Membership: Parishioners and former parishioners who have reached the age of 55.

Activities:

Day of Recollection,
Annual Christmas Party,
Field trips to various places,
Speakers,
Fun and games.

Theatre Group (67)

The Little Flower Theatre group provides wholesome entertainment in a Christian environment.

Membership: Parishioners - high school age or older with or without theatrical experience.

Committees: Set construction, props; Program; Make-up; Lights and sound; Publicity; Costumes; Actors

Activities:

Presents annual production in early Spring.
Rehearsals held in January and February in the school hall.

Parish Nurse - Health Team (68)

Consists of RN's, LPN's and MD's with current Missouri license functioning as educators, resource persons and offering support and referral concerning wellness and holistic health matters. Does not include performing hand-on invasive nursing procedures.

Membership: Professional medical personnel with current Missouri license.

Activities:

Coordinate health educational programs
Conduct blood pressure screenings
Visiting homebound persons
Hospital visits
Coordinate services for the homebound

Respite Care for Homebound Parishioners (99)

These individuals would volunteer their time to sit with homebound parishioners so their full-time caregivers could have free time to run errands, attend Mass, etc. Volunteer time to be mutually agreed upon. Respite Care volunteers need not be nurses or have a medical background.

Parish Picnic Committee (70)

This committee is responsible for coordinating the Parish/School picnic in the Spring, a large parish fund-raiser and entertainment for all parishioners.

Meetings: Various dates to be announced at the Rectory.

Volunteer Opportunities:

Chairpersons for various committees
Set-up, tear-down tents, tables, etc.
Barbeque during event
Serve dinner
Clean up
Ticket sales
Organizing and operating various booths
Opportunities for individuals, families, groups and youth

Activities:

Dinner
Rides
Games
Booths
Music

Snack food sales
Social gatherings
Parade

Your skills are a precious gift and we are blessed with abundance in the parish. Many that do not appear in listed committee work are necessary at times. Identifying your skills does not commit you to service. This resource list will be most useful when advice is needed by the pastoral team, Parish Council or fellow parishioners.
