Little
Flower School's Cultural Enrichment Program is a parent-teacher
coalition that
incorporates arts into the curriculum. A volunteer coordinator
acts as a liaison between the teachers and the cultural resources
of the community. The program strives to promote activities that
inspire the imagination of a young mind and engage it in a total
learning experience. In conjunction with the regular course of
study, students experience theatre, dance visual arts, science
and history inside and outside the classroom.
This is accomplished
by:
Reinforcing classroom
curriculum with pertinent classes and tours offered by institutions
such as the St. Louis Art Museum, the Missouri Botanical Garden,
the Museum of Westward Expansion, the Eugene Field House, the
St. Louis Science Center, and the History Museum;
Inviting guest
artists and speakers to classrooms to display their talents
to the students on a small group basis;
Arranging assembly
programs for grades K-8.
Instilling appreciation,
enthusiasm and respect for accomplishments is integral in the
development of a well-balanced person. The goal of CEEP is to
assist the school in developing students through aesthetic educational
experiences. The CEEP program provides significant educational
values that are considered to be an important part of the curriculum.
